Solidarity

Solidarity is more than sentiment. It is the firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the good of all and of each, because we are truly responsible for one another.

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

A culture of solidarity prefers persons to systems and the poor to the powerful. It is built in concrete acts — in neighborhoods, parishes, schools, and businesses — where the common good is sought before private advantage.

What This Asks of Us

To build solidarity is to build trust: to know our neighbors, to share what we have, and to bind ourselves together in associations of mutual aid that no government can replace.
